13.12.2024
As the year winds down, I’m embarking on something new, a practice I’ve been meaning to start for a while.
If you’ve followed my social media, you might have noticed my struggle to post regularly. I have a love/hate relationship with social media: it feels necessary, yet often at odds with the creative process.
To bridge that gap, I’m adopting a concept from the tech world called Weeknotes. Originally designed as a weekly habit for reflecting on and sharing your work, I’m reimagining them to suit my creative practice.
I’m calling this version Artist Weeknotes. Unlike the original idea, my focus will be on offering an open window into the often solitary life of an artist—sharing what I’m working on, what’s inspiring me and everything in between.
Current Projects
Canto
It’s hard to believe it’s been a year since I launched the publication of Canto at the Photographers’ Gallery. Sharing this work with a wider audience has been a rewarding experience, though I’ve found it challenging to navigate my next steps. Recently, I participated in Work Show Grow’s Expansion Programme, which has been instrumental in helping me refocus and chart a path forward. As part of this, I’m planning some exciting events for 2025—details to come soon!
Bifurcated
I’m thrilled to share that a new project, Bifurcated, is on the horizon. Created in collaboration with writer Christo Hall, this work delves into the intersections of political controversies and personal narratives around institutional privacy, security, and surveillance in the UK. Bifurcated examines how these issues have fueled mistrust in institutions and contributed to the spread of misinformation and conspiratorial beliefs. We’re aiming to launch this piece early next year, and I can’t wait to share more with you soon.
2024 Highlights
Mawddach Residency
As it’s December it seems to be a good time to be reflecting on the past twelve months and this is definitely one of my highlights of 2024. Back in April Lou and I embarked on a residency in Mawddach in Wales. I wrote a little something and shared some images from this residency if you’re interested to find out more and I really hope we can revisit again in 2025.
